Herpes is now increasingly affecting many people’s lives. A large percentage of the population is expected to be infected with this virus. According to doctors and scientists, there are no cures for herpes, as there is still no cure for any virus. Once you have contacted herpes you will have it for life. Scientist and researchers are looking for total cures for herpes.
What is herpes?
Herpes is a contagious virus. It is known in the medical and scientific world as herpes virus hominis. There are two types of this virus, Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV1) and Herpes Simplex Virus 2 (HSV2). HVS1 infects the nerves located at the base of the brain (Oral herpes or cold sores) and HSV2 infects the cells in the spinal cord this is also called genital herpes. There are no known cures for herpes only remedies for blisters and ulcers.
Is there a vaccine for herpes?
Although, there are no cures for herpes, fortunately, U.S. scientists and researchers were able to come up with a vaccine for women against genital herpes. However this is only effective to women who have not been infected with herpes virus 1 (cold sores) before, it is not very effective with men though even the researchers cannot explain why. But, this breakthrough is giving people hope that somehow this incurable disease will be limited.
Ways to prevent being infected:
1. Avoid stress. Stress can lower your immunity and cause you to be susceptible to viruses.
2. Avoid too much exposure to the sun.
3. Avoid touching people infected with the virus, if your partner is infected with genital herpes you should avoid sex during recurrence or use condom.
4. Exercise regularly and eat a nutritious balanced diet.
There are no cures for herpes so beware, and prevent being sexually promiscuous.
